No pro bono work this year

One thing we’ve really enjoyed here at DuckLand is giving back to our community.

Since DuckLand began we have always looked for opportunities to help out around the area and whenever possible perform pro bono work for those projects we really believe in.

Last year we held a drawing to help us find a house in the area to donate a free house painting to.

Sadly, shortly after the recipient was chosen the financial position of DuckLand shifted, due to the economy, and we have had to suspend any non-for-profit projects.

This is disappointing because besides the joy we get from beautifying homes we also enjoy the reward of charity.

Our sincerest apologies to Jen Hermens, the winner of the free house painting. Our hope is that as economic forecasts improve DuckLand will be able to continue its reputation of giving.

I forgot again

I completely forgot to post pictures of the interior repaint DuckLand just completed in the Thurston area.

Not only did I forget to post them, I forgot to TAKE any pictures. So instead here’s a pic of me after spraying the main body color.

Bet you can’t guess what color the walls are :)

Whew! That was a lot of trim to paint

Finally finished painting this new home in junction city.

And was it a doozy! An average exterior requires around 3 gallons of paint for the trim and doors.

This one took 10! But it was worth the extra work.

The final result looks fantastic.

Coming along

I posted pics of this house a couple months ago and am finally getting on to paint it.

Looking great so far. Should be finished with the exterior tomorrow.

Another transformation

Finished repainting it just hours before it started raining again.

It turned out great and the home-owner is very happy.

I hope the sunny days finally set in and summer starts so exterior painting becomes easier to schedule.

You know you’re a painter when…

You are drinking coffee out of a paint can.

The Sherwin-Williams store was out of coffee cups and generously donated this paint can to my caffeine addiction.

(it’s a clean can by the way )

Quick, final update

Here is the finished home we started back in March.

What an amazing project, 5,000 square feet, 3-car garage, custom cabinet finishes, and wow!

Blue house

Imagine this house, not blue, and more shabby.

You will have to imagine it because I was too focused on painting it that I completely forgot to take pics of it beforehand.

Like new again!

I wasn’t completely confident the wood trim in this recent project could be saved. The sun had completely bleached it and ruined the varnish.

I was amazed after sanding through a few layers of wood that the color came back.

Beautiful red cherry walnut color.

Then a quick stain and semi-gloss varnish and it looks just like the other undamaged trim.

Then a throw on a new wall color and shazam! Great looking room.

One room. Big job

For just one room this is a big job.

The owner is completely refurbishing the den of this 1940s home. Including adding recessed lighting, speaker system, removing out-dated wall heaters, installing new windows, repainting and refinishing the woodwork.

Should be quite something when it’s all complete at the end of the week.
